The Department of Correctional Services (DCS) has announced a wide range of employment opportunities for 2025, with posts available at both the National Head Office and across different regions. These opportunities aim to strengthen leadership, enhance service delivery, and support effective correctional management within South Africa.

Key Vacancies Advertised

  1. Deputy Regional Commissioner
  • Salary: R1 521 414 per annum (all-inclusive package)
  • Centres: Free State/Northern Cape & Western Cape
  • Requirements: NQF Level 7 degree in Public Administration/Behavioural Sciences, SMS pre-entry certificate from NSG, and 5 years’ senior managerial experience.
  • Duties: Provide regional leadership, oversee IT, communications, inspections, and risk management, while ensuring effective offender representation.
  1. Deputy Director: Security Evaluation (NCB4)
  • Salary: R925 380 per annum (all-inclusive)
  • Centre: National Head Office
  • Requirements: Degree/National Diploma in Behavioural Sciences, completion of Corrections Science Learnership/Basic Training, and 7 years’ supervisory/management experience.
  • Duties: Develop and enforce security standards, evaluate risks, investigate breaches, and maintain national security data.
  1. Deputy Director: Case Management (NCB4)
  • Salary: R925 380 per annum
  • Centre: National Head Office
  • Requirements: Degree/National Diploma in Behavioural Sciences, Corrections Science Learnership, and 7 years’ management experience.
  • Duties: Improve systems for case administration, monitor offender rehabilitation, and provide oversight on compliance and progress reporting.
  1. Deputy Director: Correctional Centres (NCB4)
  • Salary: R925 380 per annum
  • Centre: National Head Office
  • Requirements: Relevant degree/diploma plus Corrections Science Learnership and extensive management experience.
  • Duties: Oversee policy and procedures relating to admission, detention, release management, and manage overcrowding strategies.
  1. Deputy Director: Academic Support
  • Salary: R896 436 per annum
  • Centre: National Head Office
  • Requirements: Degree/diploma in HRD or Education Training & Development with 3–5 years’ junior management experience.
  • Duties: Align training programmes with standards, manage learning materials, conduct needs analysis, and implement orientation/induction programmes.
  1. Deputy Director: Performance Monitoring and Reporting
  • Salary: R896 436 per annum
  • Centre: National Head Office
  • Requirements: Degree/diploma in Public/Business Administration, 3–5 years’ experience in monitoring and reporting.
  • Duties: Develop strategies for performance monitoring, compile quarterly/annual reports, and coordinate auditing requirements.
  1. Assistant Manager Nursing: Maternal/Child & Youth Health
  • Salary: R755 355 per annum

  • Requirements: Nursing degree/diploma, post-basic qualification, 8 years’ nursing experience (3 at management level).
  • Duties: Develop and oversee policies for women, children, youth, and inmates with disabilities or mental health needs.
  1. Assistant Director: Monitoring Services (NCB3)
  • Salary: R506 667 per annum
  • Centre: National Head Office
  • Requirements: Degree/diploma in Behavioural Sciences, Corrections Science Learnership, and 5 years’ supervisory experience.
  • Duties: Research and develop monitoring systems for parolees and probationers, draft policies, and advise parliament and regions.
  1. Senior Administration Officer: Administration Training
  • Salary: R397 116 per annum
  • Centre: National Head Office
  • Requirements: Degree/diploma in HRM with 3–5 years’ HRD experience.
  • Duties: Oversee procurement, record-keeping, HR administration, budgeting, and coordination of training services.
  1. Administration Officer: Logistics & Stores (X2 Posts)

Duties: Administer supply chain policies, manage stock control, assets, LOGIS systems, and supplier databases.

Salary: R325 101 per annum

Centre: Zonderwater Training College

Requirements: Degree/diploma in Logistics/Supply Chain/Purchasing Management with 2–3 years’ SCM experience.
